India

Poverty in India is widespread, with the nation estimated to have a third of the world’s poor. Approx. 1/3 of all Indian people fall below the international poverty line of US$ 1.25 per day, while 2/3 of the Indian population live on less than US$ 2 per day. It is estimated that about 42.5% of children in India suffer from malnutrition.

Together with our company partners from “IMPEX”, we decided to support the poor people in the region of Guntur. Our donations will concentrate on helping schools for children, especially for those who are blind or mentally or physically handicapped. These children are Christians, Muslims, Hindus and of other religions.
The schools – Dakshinya Institute for The Mentally Handicapped and  Sri Shirdi Sai School – are run by professionals and all donations are accounted for and audited by recognized groups. They are run by voluntary organizations with the support of banks and with donations from companies and individuals.
The performance over last 10 years has demonstrated the transparency of the organization and considerable improvements have been achieved amongst those in need.

It is our belief that this support will improve conditions for these very poor, marginalized groups and will help make their lives in our region more pleasurable and comfortable.
